DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Great Barrier Reef Masters Games is a celebration of Masters sport in the beautiful location of Cairns\, in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland. Now in its sixth games the GBR Masters will be held from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 May 2023. 2500 masters-aged men and women from Australia\, Oceania\, South East Asia and beyond are anticipated to compete in 20 individual and team sports across the four days of competition with sports for all masters ages and interests. \nFor the first time in Master’s history\, Blind and Low Vision golfers will be competing in their very own golf category. Blind Golf will be an official World Blind Golf event – all blind and low vision golfers will play together regardless of their visual condition. And just like their fully-sighted golfing counterparts\, blind and low vision players will compete against each other using their standard golf handicaps. As a World Blind Golf event players can compete without any medical tests. If you’ve got any type of visual condition that causes vision loss\, you’re welcome to compete in this inclusive golf category.  This year the Masters Games will also include a woman’s blind and low vision category and a seniors category as well as categories for everyone else with any degree of decreased vision. \nCairns is the ideal location to host the Games\, being one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations with a myriad of local attractions\, dining\, adventure sports\, reef activities\, rainforest experiences and entertainment within close proximity to the city centre.
